General Information

Water systems maintain their pressure by use of Balancing Reservoirs better known as "Water Towers." This one holds 1 1/2 million gallons of water maintaining a constant pressure of about 70 PSI.

The Water Towers need someone or something to watch over them so they don't over fill or run dry. The District uses modern computer controls called a "SCADA" system.

The SCADA system receives it's information via radio communication.

And, shows up on the Screen of the Computer. Here we see 2 water towers, a ground storage (water) tank, with 4 pumps, and 2 sewer lift stations with their levels.

Sewer mains get rather large in the District and oftentimes need a big solution. One piece of equipment used is this high pressure Jet Truck that can remove some very persistent obstructions in the sewer collection system. Thats 1,000 feet of very expensive high pressure hose on the reel.
